Here’s a new memorial painting I was just commissioned to paint. The painting was given as a gift to the bride-to-be at a wedding rehearsal dinner by her fiancé. The painting depicts the bride’s father riding his bike down his favorite road in New Jersey. I thought it was a nice way to memorialize him and include him in the wedding. A photograph of the scene didn’t exist, so I used several provided photos to recreate the scene.

I just completed a fine art portrait of a father and son. The image of the boy sitting on his father’s tractor with his dad close by is set against the peaceful background of a field on the family’s farm. This original oil painting is based on a combination of family photos taken years ago. I began with a sketch to establish composition, pose, style, scene and lighting. Then I created color studies to establish the mood of the painting. The final 18” x 24” portrait was painted with Artisan Oil Paints on stretched canvas. After framing, my client plans to give the portrait to his father as a Christmas gift! Be sure to post a comment below to let us know what you think.
Here is a image of the final painting.

My graphic design company just recently installed a typographic wall mural and a reception logo sign for Hope House in Dover, New Jersey. What made it interesting was seeing an old mural I helped organize and paint when I was in High School there. I had almost forgotten about that. Read the full story and see pictures on our design blog.

Last weekend, my wife Melissa and I took a trip to Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey. Grounds for sculpture is a 35-acre public sculpture park with amazing visuals around every corner. The entire park is an experience from the temporary indoor exhibit, to the over sized outdoor sculptures to the tiny hidden artworks. The park has a mystical feeling to it.
We started the morning off with brunch at Rats, a beautiful restaurant located in the park. Even brunch was an experience with delicious food in a magical setting. (more…)
